Echo Park For the Record: Double Page India Layout

I promised that I would have multiple layouts this week! This is a new style for me. Normally, I tend to keep photos straight on my layout and everything tends to be neat and geometric. Collage style scrapbooking has come into vogue and so I figured I would try my hand at it.

 

The banner is made from chipboard accents from the Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 line. I punched holes in the chipboard using my Crop-i-dile so that I could string some twine through. I've been using clear nail polish to seal the ends of the twine, but I know it isn't acid free. I saw on another blog how a woman tied a small knot at the end of the twine to keep it from raveling. Genius! Why didn't I think of that?

Close to My Heart Magnifique: Double Page Scrapbook Layout

I really have to give kudos to the scrapbookers who maintain regular blogs and post items daily. That was of course my intention with this blog, but it's tricky when you work full-time. That said, I have tons of layouts to share, so this week I will post a lay out every day! I thought that the Close to My Heart Magnifique line was perfect for these photos from India: 

 This is such a beautiful peacock stamp that I embossed and added jewels to: 

The date and surrounding frame were cut from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.

Another 7 Gypsies Photo Tray Wall Hanging

I love these photo trays. They are such a sentimental and creative gift. Whoever thought of them is a genius! This is the one I made for my sister using Dear Lizzy and Close to My Heart Mayberry paper. 

The dress and overalls hanging on the clothesline are from the Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. I cut a thin strip of brown paper with scissors to look like a rope and then found images of the clothing I liked from the cartridge. The socks are from the Cricut Country Life Cartridge. I placed tiny buttons on the overalls from Lasting Impressions. The "Love you, Doll" sentiment is a stamp from Papertrey Ink. 

Notice the miniature Scrabble tiles that spell, "Sister." I just love those!

Aren't the cupcake brads adorable? I also like the metal "forever friends", "sister", and "true friends" metal plates. 

The handle has some cupcake printed ribbon tied it it. :)

I'm Alive! New Project! 7 Gypsies Tray Idea

Hello! After a 3 month break from blogging, I'm back! Sorry for the lack of posts, but I moved from sunny Arizona to the east coast. Most of my scrapbooking supplies have been packed up for months! And with everything that goes along with a move, I haven't had time to craft! :( I am so happy to have all of my things in order and to finally get back to my hobby. I've missed it so much.


My family was here for Christmas and I hadn't finished making gifts for my mother and sister. Don't worry, they received plenty of store bought items on Christmas day, but I wanted to make something special. It was my absolute last night to finish this project (their flights departed at 6am), so I stayed up until 3:30 finishing these 7 Gypsies Photo Trays. What a crazy night! I am sad that the coloring on the photos is a little off, but I didn't have any natural light to work with at 3:30am! Haha. I finished these gifts just before I had to drive my family to the airport. Whew. Oh, and of course I took photos of them opening their gifts to scrapbook later. They may not have been happy having their picture taken so early in the morning! *Only a true scrapbooker would make such a request. 


Here is the tray that I made for my mother:

 The colors of the project are actually red, white, gray and black, but appear more cream colored in the photos. You can use your imagination, right? :) My mother thought this gift with some of my favorite childhood photos was very heart-felt.  

Initially, I wasn't sure how I was going to find pictures small enough to fit inside the tiny windows. A good solution was printing wallet-sized photos at Costco for the larger windows. For the very small windows where a wallet sized photo was still too large, I simply did not crop the photos on a photo editing program first. This allowed me to use my paper trimmer to crop the photo. This allowed me to get the images small enough to fit, especially on full-body shots. 

I will post my sister's gift tomorrow.

Exploring the City Double Page Layout

It has been awhile since my last post. It has been difficult for me to update my blog because I've been traveling a ton and I'm also getting ready to move from sunny Arizona to the east coast! Most of my supplies will soon be boxed up, so it may be awhile before I can craft again. Sniff sniff. Here's a layout for you to enjoy! New Delhi Double Page Layout

Hi Friends! I'm not sure who looks at this blog, but it seems like I have friends in South Africa, Canada, Puerto Rico and Alaska. :) Welcome! I hope that you are finding lots of design inspiration from the pages I post! Feel free to "follow my blog" or leave comments. Those make me feel special and help me to see that what I post is actually helpful to people. Also, feel free to let me know what you'd like to see or what I can do better. :) The focus of my blog is mostly double page layouts. I feel like these are neglected in the blogging world and most of the projects seem to be cards because they are quick to put together. I love cards and they give me great ideas, but I always wanted to see more blogs dedicated specifically to double page layouts. So that's my intention for this blog. :) 

Here's another travel layout! I promise my blog will become more varied, but I scrapbook chronologically, so that's what you'll be seeing most of for now. I am still in Washington DC and I will be in Utah this weekend!

I thought the Beware of Pick Pockets sign at the post office was hilarious. 

The monkeys scaling the city wall in Delhi were so cool. I wish we had monkeys running around our cities in the US! That would be an interesting sight..

Taj Mahal Double Page Layout

I am enjoying my trip to Washington, DC. Before I left, I made a scrapbook page using India themed paper. I love it when Scrapbook companies make country specific paper. It's perfect for travelers like me! This line is the Reminisce - Passports Collection. Here is a look at the entire layout: 

 

The first page has a picture from the Taj Mahal in Agra, India: 

Page Two has pictures from the Lotus Temple. The stickers coordinated perfectly! I liked how the stickers have "Taj Mahal" and "Lotus Temple" printed on them. They were the exact stickers I needed.

Lotus Temple Double Page Layout

I'm traveling a ton again. This time instead of Hawaii, I'm in Washington DC. This is such a simple layout, but I think it turned out very elegant. This American Crafts paper was perfect for the lotus theme: 

I used Sure Cuts A Lot to cut the image of the lotus flower. The silver embossed letters are from an alphabet stamp set from Close to My Heart: 

 The photo mat is from my Cricut Imagine More Cartridge. I really love that machine.

Traveling the Globe: Double Page Layout

Another double page layout for you! Yay! I was able to fit 9 photos plus journaling on this page without it looking too crowded. It always feels great to get a bunch of photos scrapbooked and out of boxes. :) I love that I'm-so-productive feeling. It's like a high for me. Here is a look at the entire layout: 

I love the camera and little rolls of film, because that is what I was using when I took these pictures. The cool fish is from the Cricut Pagoda cartridge. That cartridge has been great for scrapbooking my Asia photos. I love it. I wish Provo Craft would come up with a more updated travel cartridge.  

Here is a look at page 2. The branch is from the Pagoda Cartridge and the photo mat is from the Story Book Cartridge. The journaling lines are from Stampin' Up!:

Through the Streets of Hong Kong: Double Page Layout

Do you ever feel guilty for working on cards or other projects because you are so behind on your layouts? I do! I force myself to scrapbook chronologically. Otherwise I would have a bunch of random layouts from different years and different events, never quite filling an album. I am really proud of myself that I finished an album from Hawaii from 2003! I definitely got my fill of beach themed pages. Now I'm trying to finish my album from my summer visiting Hong Kong, India, Japan and Thailand so most of my posts for the next while will have an international theme. :) Here is another layout from Hong Kong:

The cool dragon is from the Cricut Pagoda cartridge. I used the same pattered paper to make the brushstroke on the center of the dragon:
