Project 1: Doodlebug Christmas Card

Hi friends! The application for the first ever Doodlebug design team is due in a week and I've been busy working on my projects. We have to submit two cards, a layout and a three-dimensional project. I may or may not have stayed up until 4:30am on Saturday night watching back to back episodes of 24 on Netflix while crafting away completely oblivious to the time.... Oopsie. Anyway--here is my first project! I hope that you enjoy it!

Here is a view of the front of the card. I love this striped Doodlebug paper. It reminds me of a candy cane! I cut a thin strip to look like a ribbon, and used a circle punch to make a circle slightly larger than the Santa sticker:
I lined the envelope with the playful candy cane paper to match:
Doodlebug came out with this fantastic create-a-card concept. There is an assortment of cards and envelopes in all shapes and colors that you can mix and match. What a novel idea! I picked up a gorgeous tri-folding raspberry colored card and matching envelope at my local scrapbooking store. The cards are displayed like this:
Here is a view of the first fold of the card:
I lined the inside of the card. I love the little gingerbread, stockings and cups of hot cocoa on the paper!
A close up of the middle of the card. The sparkly snowman is the cutest:
I decorated the back of the envelope with snowflakes:
And the front of the card with a present:
Here is one last view of the card. I used pop dots to add dimension to the Santa:

Christmas Double Page Layout

This is the second layout I ever made. It is interesting to see what parts of my style have stayed the same and what parts have changed. What has changed and what has stayed the same in your scrapbooking style over the years? I think that I have acquired a better sense of how to use patterned paper and to be more brave with it. I still like symmetry, although less than in this layout. I still also like straight pictures and clean lines.
Here is a close up of the first page:
Close up of the second page:
I love the little gingerbread eyelets! I think I still have those in my stash. I'll have to use them again. Sometimes older products are the best!
Hope you enjoyed this oldie but goodie. :)

Love,
Sheenie

Dreaming of Cooler Weather: Double Page Layout

It's 110 degrees in southern Arizona today and I'm roasting! I keep dreaming of cooler weather even though I don't particularly like snow! Here's a snowy layout for all of you who are wishing for a temperature change. It's an older one, but I think it is still cute! Enjoy!(I blurred some of the journaling that I wanted to keep private.)
I made the snow using white paper that I tore and then sprayed with acid-free Krylon Glitter Aerosol Spray. I treated the top of the snow with Diamond Glaze and glitter:
I used a punch to make the tiny snow flakes. I don't know if any of you remember Quickutz dies, but I made the date using the CK Handprint dies. The computer font is CK Handprint from a CD produced by Creating Keepsakes:
Remember Paper Bliss? The adorable polar bear and igloo were made by that company. I loved their three dimensional stickers, but I don't really see them in stores anymore. Isn't the tiny bell such a nice touch?
My favorite part of the igloo are the rhinestone berries on the wreath.
Well all of this is making me want to take a dip in the pool. Have a great day!

Love,
Sheenie
